Mom and bear come face-to-face before running off in different directions in New Hampshire

Hilarious moment a terrified mom and a scared bear cub flee in opposite directions after seeing each other in a front yard

  • The incident was captured on surveillance on Friday outside the woman’s home in Nottingham, New Hampshire
  • The footage shows a black bear wandering into the woman’s yard just as she’s stepping out her front door preparing to get in her car and leave
  • After she closes her door and walks down her porch steps, she sees the bear standing off in the distance and the two meet each other’s gaze
  • The woman screams, turns around and tries frantically to open her door
  • Her reaction startles the bear, which also turns and retreats back into the woods

A New Hampshire woman recently suffered a fright when an enormous black bear wandered into her yard, even though surveillance video of the incident shows the bear was just as afraid of her as she was of it.

The Nottingham, New Hampshire close encounter was captured on the unnamed woman’s home surveillance camera.

‘I was heading to my car with the last load of my belongings before I loaded my three kids up,’ the woman said in the description section of the clip, which was obtained by Viral Hog and uploaded on YouTube on September 6.

‘I go to walk out the door casually, and there it was staring back at me, a big black bear!

The lady walks out her front door and descends down her porch steps when she sees the bear standing off in the distance.

The bear sees her as well.

‘We both locked eyes, and had the same reaction, run!’ the woman said.

Suddenly, she screams before reversing course and rushing back to open her front door. Her reaction appears to startle the bear, which also turns and starts running back to its woodland home.

The two are right to fear one another.

Hunters kill an estimated 50,000 black bears every year in the U.S., according to Western Wildlife. And while black bears almost never attack human beings, they can do a bit of damage if provoked.

Fellow New Hampshire resident Apryl Rogers, 72, lost an eye after a black bear attacked her in July of 2018.

Luckily this latest bear encounter ended without anyone being hurt.

‘Happy we both were able to get away safely,’ the woman said. ‘What a way to start my Friday morning!’
